Dunno why, not a real h4rdc0re rp kinda guy but the sight of roads with painted yello lines just looked so incredibly out of place in game that it made me groan and close the page.
you are right imo. its worse when you are doing the 1-10 quests. for example, there is one part where you have to rob a bank and it makes all these cartoon noises. i seriously stopped playing for a second and asked myself what the fuck i was doing.
here a video of the quest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvfmnsxOLvU
it is seriously retarded and bad. i was so happy when i got to the 2nd goblin area, the island, because at least that wasnt some faggot town with cars and shit.
Now that I think about it, I remember seeing some entirely metal town with cars. Yeah, it was pretty horrible and a real immersion breaker. I don't dress up like I'm living in the middle ages and drink from a stein while playing, but at least there's some level of immersion. No interest in playing a gob, so no big deal I guess.
Let me get this straight. Goblins with cars = bad. Gnomes with fucking nuclear bombs and robots = A-OK?
clockwork robots and gnomes have been around since you were almost a blowjob, i was never crazy about it but it was always there.
now, the goblin city design and feel is so many steps below that its embarrassing. watch the video of that quest i link and tell me with a straight face all those retarded 4 year old sounds were HELLA COOL.
actually, dont. just keep watching yer girl cartoons and being a total weeaab.
i appreciate that Blizzard are trying to do something different with the new zones compared to the other races' starting areas, the goblins have a big hub with easy transport and the worgen have a long linear starting experience with lots of phasing. I'm not crazy about either design aesthetically but it makes a change from kill x rats, go to the next hub, kill y goats, etc. I'm not gonna sperg about how it's a great storytelling innovation or whatever because frankly compared to the ways other games have to tell you stories an MMO is always going to fall short, but it does show at least a small amount of progress in that regard.
instead of cutesy cars and whimsical shit they could have made the goblins sinister or technology-hungry crazy engineers. you could still have cars and stealth bombers and shit but it wouldnt be nearly as gay. but the kids will like this better.
yeah I always thought gnomes were supposed to be the tinkering inventors and the goblins were the power-hungry businessmen. The kezan storyline goes along with that i suppose but shit like the something-cola (i forget what it's called) would fit better with gnomes.
Kaja'Cola

Watched that video for the goblin quest, and yeah, those sound effects are pretty much kindergarten level. Not sure people are surprised by this, though; WoW has always been about as juvenile in humor as it gets, and has about as much capacity for sinister as a Love Is comic strip. You were already playing a fairly cartoonish game, may as well get used to it. Blizzard wasn't going to suddenly do an about-face and make an area look ripped right out of Demon's Souls, or something similar.

So has any of the 80-85 content been opened for Beta? I've heard more than enough about the new furry and goblin nub zones, I'd like some infoz on the areas I'm actually going to use.

Yes, 83 is the cap atm. Mt. Hyjal and Vashj'ir are basically the Fjord/Tundra equivalents. Hyjal is pretty big, I did every quest there except for what I think is the last one - fighting Ragnaros, which is done in a similar style to the battle for undercity. Vashj'ir is pretty massive and it seems like I have a pretty large chunk of it to go yet, but I already hit 83 so I stopped questing. It's totally underwater so early on you quest for a permanent zonewide waterbreathing + speed buff, and about halfway through you get a quest for an underwater mount hyjal. At 82 or something you can get the quest for Deepholme which is an under-earth realm you get to via diving into the actual maelstrom. Twilight Highlands east of Wetlands I think is the other 82ish zone but its nyi
No dungeons or raids in beta yet?
There are several leveling dungeons
Are they fun and interesting? Overall, I still find the LK dungeons fun, but couldn't stand BC dungeons by this point in that expansion.
All that shit about trash needing CC and healers having to pick who they heal and when is BS so far. In average ICC gear (which honestly with a 30% buff anyone who wants can get), the first 3 dungeons (thats all thats available) are a joke. You just burn everything down. Healing is still binary and mana still infinite. Damage is either trivial or one shots non tanks (lol Throne). Oh and they drop 279 blues that compete with 277 epics.
The hardest part about the dungeons right now is any idiot that got randomly selected to be in the beta can copy a premade character over and log into the queue with a class they have no idea how to play. This is the biggest mistake blizzard has made with the beta. How could they expect anything besides their beta forums descending into a worthless pile of shit with a bunch of scrubs playing characters that they have no idea how to play?
There are a couple of bosses that are pretty fun for 5 man fights. There's a Netherspite 2.0 fight which while certainly not impossible will be wiping pugs for a while. Unfortunately its also completely optional : p
Anyone got any info on Cata PvP?

Sounds fortunate to me.

completely untouched for the most part except for trying to churn out the new bg twin peaks. they just recently added level 83 so i wouldn't get your hopes up for a few months atleast
I'm sure they'll get everything in and done and tuned for PvE, and then PvP damage will still be out of control.
and not a single fuck was given that day

Consecration -- Now on a 10 sec duration with a 30 sec cooldown. The Hallowed Ground talent makes it cheaper and hit harder -- it does not affect duration. Use Consecration when you need it, but you can't spam it. This is consistent with the AE changes we are making to all tanks.
Fuck you, paladins~
